Weekend Report: Good weather brings the miniature railway to life!
Neville Fairclough reports on last Saturday’s restoration work:
“It was a very productive day for our crew of volunteers on Saturday as all the holes and major dents in the TH&B Caboose were cleaned out and filled and hand sanding is well progressed. Towards the end of a long day, they painted the black trim line below the cupola side window.
They also made great progress towards completing work on the inside of the cupola as shown in the photos, This included finish installing the internal trim down to the level of the benches, finishing the trim of the two sliding windows, finish painting the roof white and putting two coats of grey primer over the total inside of the cupola.
A coat of black paint was also applied to the stove floor protector which will be installed soon making us ready to position the stove and allowing for measurements for the chimney.”
Given the lovely spring days early in the weekend, some of our volunteers also ran the miniature railway much to the delight of Easter weekend visitors to Roundhouse Park.
