The Toronto Railway Historical Association (TRHA) is pleased to announce that we have acquired one of the premier collections of Railway artefacts in Canada from David A. Walmsley of Orillia, Ontario. David started collecting when he was thirteen years old in Belleville, Ontario which was very much a railway town. Over many years, he has collected bells, lanterns, passes, tools, timetables, keys, locks, track motor cars, velocipedes, railway china and many other artefacts. David housed much of his collection in boxcars which were the heart of his railway museum.
.
This collection will greatly add to our collection of artefacts to be housed and interpreted in the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre, a joint project of the TRHA and the City of Toronto. As of 1:00 p.m. last Thursday, most of the collection has safely been transported and secured here in Toronto. Three remaining motor cars of five track inspection vehicles will arrive soon to complete the acquisition.

The images accompanying these posts provide an overall picture of some of the collection before it was moved. In future news postings, we will be sharing further information and images of numerous items in the collection.
.
Our thanks go out to the many TRHA volunteers, led by John Mellow, a TRHA Board member, who worked so hard to make this happen.
