The Aberfoyle Junction finds a new home and a new name!
If you don’t recognize the name – Aberfoyle Junction Railway – you are in for a real treat if you visit it as obviously you have not done so!
This railway was built by a small very dedicated group of expert modellers first in a building at the Aberfoyle flea market and then moved to a large quonset hut near Aberfoyle, Ontario. However, they had to vacate their rented premises a year or two ago.
The great news is that they have now relocated in the heart of St. Jacobs, Ontario, a short drive north of Kitchener-Waterloo. They now call themselves the St. Jacobs and Aberfoyle Model Railway.
They describe themselves as:
“St. Jacobs & Aberfoyle Model Railway is North Americas finest “O” Scale Layout. Showcasing Southern Ontario during the 1950’s. Come see our huge world renowned display accurately portrayed to every last detail.”
The model railway is truly spectacularly well done. As you enjoy their operations, the sun rises and sets as you watch train operations through a cycle of day and night with lights coming on at dusk and turning off at dawn.
They re-opened last weekend and are now open on many weekends through to the spring of 2014. For more information, visit their website at http://stjacobsmodelrailway.com/ or click here to directly access their dates and hours of operation.
