Thanksgiving weekend report: Feasting in the Nova Scotia!
Saturday
Saturday was a brilliant summer day in Toronto, not bad at all for mid-October. Being a long weekend the city seemed typically quiet with not much traffic and I was really surprised to turn onto Bremner Blvd in late afternoon to find this cute little park full of people with a tiny steam train also full of people making its way around the park! What surprised me most was that *I* was genuinely surprised at the level of public activity, the place was a sea of people.
In Roundhouse Park, our volunteers ran the miniature railway and staffed the museum. Work also progressed on the Cape Race. Elsewhere, we were fitting up our new remote storage space with a bigger door and erecting racking.
Sunday
It was wet today but we had fun anyway as a dedicated crew of volunteers continued operations. After the museum closed for the day, Dave Fleming’s wife, Elnora, prepared a wonderful turkey dinner for those of us who could stay (see photos below) which was enjoyed in the luxury of our Nova Scotia’s dining room.
Monday
We had a good day on Monday as well. The weather was dry and mostly sunny and the mini train ran mostly full from mid afternoon. A great weekend as we approach the end of our outdoor operating season.
Thanks to all of the volunteers who continue to support our operations as our season winds down.
