Earlier this fall, the Niagara Parks Commission moved a small narrow gauge electric box cab locomotive, located just upstream of the Horseshoe Falls to a new temporary location as part of major rehabilitation work being carried out to improve vehicular, pedestrian and cyclist traffic in Queen Victoria Park. Eventually, the locomotive will rest on its own concrete pad with an historic plaque interpreting it.
The Ice Drag, an electrically powered locomotive weighing about 16 metric tonnes (35,000 pounds), once played an important role in helping remove the ice before it could enter the forebay in front of the former Canadian Niagara Powerhouse building.
