Labour Day Weekend: The Milton Steam Era Show – Aug 29 to Sept 1
Each year on Labour Day Weekend, I make it a point to visit the Steam Era event held in Milton, Ontario (about an hour west of Toronto) on their fairgrounds. The major draw for me is the magnificent array of machinery that comes to the fair to be operated and admired. My favourites are the half dozen or more massive working steam tractors on display. Click on the video above to see these in action.
Each year, they also feature a special types of machinery. This year, perhaps in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I, they are featuring military vehicles, vintage motorcycles and period costumes.
Expect also to see displays of antique cars, indoor model engineering exhibits and small engines of all sorts. What a great way to end the summer by spending a day at Steam Era.
To read more about Steam Era, visit their website at www.steam-era.com.
Make a special note that the location of the shoe has changed from past years. It is now at Country Heritage Park which is also in Milton, Ontario, They are located at 8560 Tremaine Rd. For more information on the Country Heritage Park, click here.
