Field Trip: West Coast Railway Heritage Park – Part 5

Every railway museum is challenged with providing exhibits which also appeal to little children. The West Coast Railway Heritage Park developed an area right beside their main station and their miniature railway station for this purpose. They built a large wooden train set for the kids to play on which was very nicely done as you can see from the above images. They also converted one of their cabooses into a party caboose which is one of their ways of fund raising through hosting birthday parties with the added attraction of course of the children being able to ride the miniature railway (more about that later). Finally they also provide a small wooden train set set up in the museum as well for the really little tykes as shown below. Finally, note the innovative use of a wheel set and axle to provide innovative railway oriented bench seating.
