Field Trip: Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault St. Marie, Ontario

One of our volunteers, Stephen Gardiner, paid a visit to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) in Sault St. Marie, Ontario.  Their mandate is:

“To preserve and tell the story of Canada’s bushplane and forest fire protection heritage and
how it has shaped life in northern and remote parts of Canada. The CBHC collects, preserves,
exhibits and interprets a collection of bushplanes and related material and promotes public
understanding of their significance by offering quality presentations, education programs and visitor
experiences in a public museum facility. It also serves as a centre of research and information on
bushplane and forest fire fighting heritage.”

Their museum is even an authorized marine airport and offers bushplane simulator experiences much as we offer railway simulation experiences. Their website is comprehensive and well worth visiting.

The reason we are posting this field trip here is that Stephen uncovered a number of railway artefacts in their collection which they display and interpret.  His photos of them are found below.
