Field Report: In Search of the Newfie Bullet – Part 3
After spending several days exploring the Twillingate area and especially Moretons Harbour where my wife’s father was from, we finally set off for the west coast of Newfoundland. As we passed through Lewisporte, my wife suddenly exclaimed – “Look Russ, a train!”. What a navigator she turned out to be!
My research had not unearthed the “Lewisporte Train Park”. It is a small park with picnic benches on the side of their main street. As you can see below, it contains a small train set consisting of a snow plow, diesel #902, a passenger car and a caboose. Unlike the lonely diesel we encountered in Carbonnear, this train set was well maintained and in great shape.
We took the opportunity to lunch there and then my wife caught up on her journaling of the trip while I explored the train.
