Doors Open Weekend in Roundhouse Park – Part 1 of 5
Each year, Doors Open weekend is a special event at the Toronto Railway Museum as we pull out all of the stops and present as many attractions as possible for the visitng public. In the early years of our museum development this really was an annual event and the only chance that the public had to explore what had as ongoing site construction precluded public visits.
On May 25th and 26th, we again participated in the Toronto Doors Open event and experienced over 11,000 individual visits (yes, we counted the visitors!) to the following attractions:
- Workshop Walk through in Stalls 15-16-17 leading to the Temporary Museum Display and the U33 Diesel Cab Simulator experience
- 6213 Steam Locomotive Cab visits
- 4803 Diesel Cab visits
- Cabin D Tour
And these number did not include the Train Show which we also hosted in Steam Whistle’s entertainment space.
Our thanks to the dozens of TRHA volunteers who turned out to make his happen. the volunteers who were assigned to us by Doors Open Toronto and everyone who participated in our Train Show.
And a special thanks to Bob Dickson (our museum manager) and TRHA volunteers Stephen Gardiner and Lance Gleich who formed the team who organized and prepared us for this event as well as coordinated everything during the event.
