A number of our volunteers organized to celebrate by taking advantage of the free fares after 7:00 p.m. on GO Transit on New Year’s Eve. Given the resulting flexibility of hopping on and off at will, members joined the group at locations along the line which were most convenient to them and the group developed an itinerary to take maximum advantage of the schedules on the Lakeshore line . In the pictures at the left and middle above, we find the group enjoying the fine ride provided by GO Transit.

On New Year’s Day, a local tradition of operating on the first day of the year on our miniature railways was continued with a group of volunteers appearing at Roundhouse Park to do just that. Two trains were put into operation, one pulled by our mini-Whticomb gas-hydraulic locomotive and the other pulled by the Romulus coal-fired 0-4-0 steam engine. This was the full real test of Romulus after it had undergone some extensive repairs. The promised rain pretty much held off and temperatures was a balmy 10 degrees Celsius. We even had a number of visitors to the park enjoy afternoon rides as well.
