My working background is forty four years in railroading – 15 years as a Telegrapher and a Train Dispatcher with the CPR and 29 years with Go Transit Rail Operations.
I have also served on the Board of the Upper Canada Railway Society, the Ontario Rail Foundation and the South Simcoe Railway Heritage Corporation. Presently I am Chairman of the Restoration Committee of the Friends of Freeman Station, a private citizens group who are restoring the former GTR/CNR Burlington Junction station in Burlington Ontario.
I have offered assistance to the TRHA since 2006. I met with Orin and Derek at Todmorden Mills Park and discussed Don Station becoming a part of the collection for Roundhouse Park. I worked as a consultant on behalf of TRHA on the restoration, done by Murison Restorations, to return the station to the appearance of its working years when owned by the CPR.
Working with Derek Boles, I have contributed to the restoration of Cabin D Signal Tower. Two years were spent working on the restoration at home of the CPR Belleville Subdivision, Centralized Traffic Control, Dispatching Board, which is now on display in Cabin D. When the David A. Walmsley collection of historical railway artefacts was acquired, I arranged work crews to pack and move the collection from Orillia to John St. Roundhouse. I have assisted with numerous other projects over a nine year span and continue to serve when possible on the TRHA Advisory Board.
