Field Trip: Frontenac Society of Model Engineers

Many of us miniature railway fans are very fond of visiting other clubs to build relationships with them and share our passion for the hobby. Recently, Michael Guy visited the Frontenac Society of Model Engineers who have partially completed their miniature railway facility in a public park in Battersea, 20 minutes North of Kingston, Ontario. The describe their facility as follows: “On the model railway front, we own a coal fired 3-1/2″ gauge Hudson (4-6-4) steam locomotive for members use, so you don’t have to build your own to join in the fun! Our new tracks include 7-1/4″ gauge ground level, running through field and trees, and multi-gauge elevated tracks.” The occasion for the visit was the annual Battersea Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 13th, 2012. The above 3 minute video beautifully captures the miniature railway action action at the Festival. The attached photos capture some of the activity at the festival.
