Field Trip: A Ride on the TTC’s New Streetcar
Image from TTC’s Website |
On Wednesday, June 11th, the TTC held a sneak preview ride for members of the news media and specially-invited guests aboard new Bombardier “Flexity Outlook” No. 4401. Among the guests were
TRHA’s Richard White and me .
About 75 people rode No. 4401 on a short trip from the TTC’s Hillcrest Shops to Bathurst Station and return. The passengers included 26 winners of a streetcar trivia contest the TTC had held during the last two weeks of May. Richard and I were among the winners, each having been first to answer a trivia question tweeted by the TTC’s Twitter account.
I was even interviewed by the CBC for their story on the trip. Click here to see and hear the story.
The new streetcars will officially enter service on the 510 Spadina route on August 31, 2014, and will gradually replace the existing fleet of CLRVs and ALRVs on all other streetcar routes over the next five years.
