Historical images: 1973 Credit Valley Double-headed Steam Excursion

David Howard of the Canadian Historical Association’s (CRHA) Niagara Division offers us some historic images from 1973 as follows:

“During October 1973, I chased a Credit Valley Steam Excursion with #136 and #1057 operating north out of Toronto via the Forks of the Credit.  I shot these images with my first Pentax Spotmatic on Agfachrome slide film. While the Agfachrome film was a bit grainy, it only had a minor colour shift and almost no fade as compared to the vintage E6 film. About this time I also standardized on Kodachrome film.”

 Love that smoke!

Given the choice of cab rides, think we all would have chosen the second engine, #1057… We wouldn’t mind the smoke from #136.

Looks like the boys have a bit of a problem, as they didn’t get the water turned off before the tender overflowed.

End of the day as the excursion chugs its way back to Toronto.
